Lost Rat Terrier Running Around Platte Park Area-Denver

There is an adorable Rat Terrier dog running around this past week in the Platte Park areas in Denver between Logan and Broadway. Been trying to catch him/her for about 4 days now but no luck, if this is your dog or if you have any information, please contact me for specific details. He/she just roams around day-night cold and hungry. I've been feeding but no luck catching it.

ASPCA Investigation and Rescue from Brutal Georgia Abuse Case

ASPCA Field Investigation and Response Team Rescues Dogs from Horrific Conditions in GAShare

One of several dogs rescued in GA.Working in conjunction with teams from United Animal Nations and Sumter DART (Disaster Animal Response Team), the ASPCA's Field Investigations and Response team removed 26 dogs from the property at 1750 Ohoopee Church Rd., approximately 130 miles southeast of Atlanta. At least 26 emaciated dogs were discovered, chained to tire axles and posts that dotted the property, and another 27 were found dead and in various stages of decomposition.

"It's bad enough that these dogs were treated cruelly and raised in horrible conditions," said Tim Rickey, the ASPCA's Senior Director of Field Investigations and Response. "But to leave them like this to starve is incomprehensible and speaks exactly to the kinds of heinous crimes the ASPCA fights day in and day out."

Washington County authorities intend to arrest the caretaker of the animals, who claims that the original owner of the dogs did not provide them with adequate food and other necessities. Other arrests and animal cruelty charges are anticipated.

"This has been going on for much too long," said Washington County Sheriff Thomas Smith. "We are committed to fighting animal cruelty in all its forms."

"We are grateful to be able to respond to this situation, and for the agencies assisting us," said Deputy Lynn Schlup of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, who contacted the ASPCA approximately three weeks ago for assistance. She said none of the dogs were current on vaccinations.

The dogs were transferred to an emergency shelter at an undisclosed location in Washington County provided by Vanguard Associates. They will be triaged by veterinarians Dr. Melinda Merck, ASPCA Senior Director of Veterinary Forensics, and Dr. Robert Reisman, ASPCA Coordinator of Abuse Cases, along with ASPCA veterinary technicians and assisted by Dr. Jason Byrd, Associate Director of the Center for Forensic Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The dogs will be cared for at the temporary shelter by volunteers of United Animal Nations until a forfeiture hearing.

All of the dogs are emaciated and undernourished; some are suffering from untreated injures, respiratory problems and open wounds. Tethered by log chains, the dogs were discovered without food, water or adequate shelter, shivering in the freezing temperatures.

Authorities believe that the dogs rescued were used for fighting. "They bear the battle scars consistent with those of fighting dogs," Rickey said. ""Being on log chains 24/7 is no way to live," he added. "These dogs have lived a miserable life, and are just as starved for human contact."

Clay Romero, the man charged in the dragging death on December 30, 2009 of a German Shepherd named Buddy behind his truck for three miles the maximum penalty of three years in federal prison, $100,000 fine and one year probation for this horrific crime. Do not let this crime go unpunished for the horrible death of an innocent dog. Given Mr. Romero's past criminal record, we feel he is a menace to society and this dragging death is only the beginning of what could lead to future unimaginable and tragic consequences.

Denver Pet Adoption, Please Rescue Me

Our recent victim in the Abusive world we live in is the sweetest dog you could ever meet! This 1 year old dog was a friend's neighbor dog that had been playing with since the owners kept it in their backyard and chained to a tree 24-7!!

The owners fled town and left this poor dog to fend for itself (don't get me started about these criminals), after some work she took it to the Boulder Humane Society to become adopted since she was not able to.

If ineterested or know someone, pass this along and contact the Boulder Humance Society, he will love you to death and would love a new start in life!

Thanks to all that helped make this year another exciting time to help those less fortunate Pet's in shelters during the Holidays. History of Maxfund
At this time another hospital that took emergencies had taken in a dog that was hit by car, this dog had multiple injuries. One of Dr. Suro’s clients heard of this dog and asked if he would take it. The Good Samaritan had paid for the immediate medical care. But no owner could be found, and after 10 days the dog faced euthanasia. He was now stable medically, but needed expensive orthopedic surgery for his fractures, and no one was willing to pay for it. The Suro’s agreed to see what they could do for him.

Why the name MaxFund?
When we brought the dog into the hospital they found a good-natured, headstrong big male dog, probably a cross between a German Shepherd and a German Shorthair. Pointer. The staff named him Max. He was facing several surgeries and a long rehabilitation. The Suro’s decided to get the hospital cliental and other pet lovers involved with helping with some of Max’s expenses. From donated services from outside doctors, a fishbowl on the counter with the name “Max”, and a yard sale they actually ended up with more money than the Suro’s had expected.
