ASPCA Adopt a Thon in Joplin a Huge Success
Adopt-a-Thon Helps Heal Joplin
Story Link
As you may know, the recent Adopt-a-Thon at the Joplin Humane Society was an enormous success. Thousands of people from 24 states visited our emergency shelter, and a whopping 739 animals were adopted!
The adopters included Miranda Scott and her family, who adopted a once-feral kitten, and Peggy Howe, who, along with her daughter, drove four hours from Topeka, Kansas, to rescue a puppy—though she was weak from undergoing cancer treatment.
This wonderful event never could have happened without your support. That’s why in this issue of News Alert, we’d like to thank you for what you’ve helped us accomplish—and share photos and stories from the adopt-a-thon that will have you breaking out the tissues.
It’s Fourth of July weekend; what better way to kick it off than with some heartwarming stories and photos of Americans pulling together for the animals—and people—of the Heartland?

Ruff Life Wine Tasting..National Mill Dog Rescue in Colorado Springs
Mill Rescue Wine Tasting

Set your Calendars for Ruff Life Wine Tasting in Colorado Springs. When? August 5, 2011 from 6-9pm. Norris Penrose Event Center 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd..come out for a great cause
They have been in existence since February of 2007 when Theresa rescued our founder, Lily, from Reedgate Kennels in Missouri. When Theresa got to the auction, Lily was sitting up in the back of her cage in the dark barn that she lived in. Lily was sitting on her back legs and rubbing her stomach with her front paws and looking Theresa square in the eyes and asking her for help.
Theresa knew that she couldn't leave the auction without Lily and said, "We may have come 800 miles for one dog." That wasn't the case as Lily was worn out, with a rotted jaw and mammary tumors along her entire left side. She brought 40 dollars. I wouldn't sell her for a million dollars. She's brought joy and love to my life from the day she got here.
On that day National Mill Dog Rescue began. We have pledged to put an end to the cruelty and evil of the commercial breeding industry. (Industry! Indeed.) Also more commonly known as puppy mills. We do this by educating the public about puppy mills and letting them know that buying dogs in a pet store is wrong. There are many reputable breeders and shelters from which to get dogs

Found Female White Terrier Westie Dog- Quincy/Wadsworth..Rude Owner & Bad Breeders 303-573-7912/720-323-6034
Lost Dog Get's Back To Her Home..Don't Think She Was Too Thrilled
**So I found this lovely dog this morning posted ads everywhere and was going to even put signs out for her. No collar, no chip no anything so wasn't ready to take to the shelter just yet.
**The owner Archie Garcia called and said it was his, great come pick it up. The next thing I know she didn't want to go with him, he was rude about having any information for the dog in case it got out next time and any advice I had (I operate a Stray dog rescue site and recover 3-5 dogs a year so I know a little) he proceeded to tell me off, tell me to buzz off and he didn't care!!
**Responsible dog owner...I don't think so! If you are a dog breeder Archie, which I assume you probably are, I would not have others buy dogs from you after risking the life of your dog and most importantly the puppies left behind for 24 hours while you were being so careless!!
Glad I could help save your dog thanks for being ungrateful-Small Female White Westie Found July 5th Morning near 8400 Block of West Union, near Quincy and Wadsworth area this morning
